Mind games: how to train your brain like you would your body

According to the World Health Organization, depression and anxiety cost the global economy $1tn each year, predominantly from reduced productivity.  Here are six simple habits, taken from design thinker Vishakha Singh’s SHIFT methodology, to train your brain in the same way that you train your body.

Write thank-you notes

Establish a morning mindset routine

  • Sets a positive tone for the day through intentional activities. 

 

Challenge your thoughts

  • Reframes negative or limiting thoughts.

  • Helps you understand your strengths, weaknesses, and triggers. 

 

Embrace uncertainty

  • Encourages acceptance that the future is inherently unpredictable, making it easier to adapt accordingly. 

 

Surround yourself with forward-thinking people

  • Creates a positive environment around you.
