Professor of Social Entrepreneurship Sophie Bacq has been named on the 2024 Thinkers50 Radar List for her research on how to strengthen communities through collective action and entrepreneurship.
“I’m thrilled to receive this recognition from Thinkers50,” she said. “I’m honored and grateful for the opportunity to share my research-based insights on social entrepreneurship with organizations that are looking to leverage their business acumen and entrepreneurial mindset as a positive force for societal impact.”
Bacq conducts research and develops theories concerning entrepreneurial initiatives aimed at addressing complex social and environmental challenges across individual, organizational, and civic contexts. Since 2006, she has been actively involved in teaching and conducting empirical research on social entrepreneurship across Europe, the United States, and South Africa.
Social entrepreneurship, societal impact, organizational social performance, and civic wealth are important topics for Bacq, who has been published in top-tier management and entrepreneurship journals.
Each January, Thinkers50 publishes their Radar List, which includes 30 experts whose ideas are anticipated to significantly influence management thinking in the years to come.
Last year, IMD Adjunct Professor of Leadership Merete Wedell-Wedellsborg made the list for her work on how to sustain high performance and create strong bonds and shared identity in top teams.
